A food diary built for recovery
A meal tracking app without calories
Most food diary apps are built for dieting: databases, barcode scans, and a calorie total staring back at you. If you are rebuilding your relationship with food - or supporting someone who is - those numbers are the problem, not the point. Pippa is meal tracking with the numbers taken out: photograph your meal, a friendly buddy keeps you company, and nothing on your screen ever scores you.

How tracking without numbers works
No calorie counts, ever
Nothing on your screen shows calories, macros, or weights. You photograph a meal, add a few words if you like, or mark it skipped - honesty matters more than a perfect record.
No food databases or weighing
There is nothing to search, scan, or measure. Logging a meal takes seconds, so it keeps happening in week six, not just week one.
Check-ins that ask, never grade
A little while after a meal, Pippa can gently ask how it went: feelings, fullness, urges, coping skills tried. Every question is optional and skipping is never shamed.
A buddy, not a scoreboard
A cozy companion keeps you company. Coins are earned for nourishing yourself and spent on hats and backgrounds - rewards attach to self-care, never to calories, weight, or restriction.
Private by default
Your journal stays on your device. Data is encrypted, never sold, never used for ad tracking, and deleting your account permanently removes it.
Care team optional, consent first
If your clinic or school uses Pippa, join with their code. Your clinician sees your meals and trends only after you sign a consent form - and you can revoke it anytime.
Why remove calories from meal tracking?
Eating disorder clinicians widely consider consumer calorie trackers contraindicated: visible numbers feed comparison, restriction, and anxiety. But self-monitoring itself - noticing meals, feelings, and patterns - is a core part of evidence-based treatment. The answer isn't to stop tracking; it's to stop showing the numbers. In Pippa, meal plans are written as foods and portions, logging is a photo, and reflection is about how eating felt, not what it added up to.
For connected patients, a custom AI estimates intake behind the scenes and routes it only to their clinician's HIPAA-compliant dashboard - so a dietitian or therapist can track nutrition against goals without a single number ever reaching the patient's screen. Gentle tracking, real support
Pippa is a supportive companion, not a medical service, and works best alongside professional care. If you're struggling, please reach out to a qualified professional, or call or text 988 in the US.
